Crochet Work Basket

Crochet Work Basket.

I love it, I get so much pleasure from putting away my latest project in it’s special work basket.

Crochet Work Basket 7

It was hard work on my wrists using yarn this thick, well cotton actually, but it was worth it.

It started with a simple circle to create the base, this image doesn’t actually show quite how thick the cotton is but the hook is a size 11 so that may give you an idea!

Crochet Work Basket

With perseverance and regular breaks for my wrist it grew taller, I love the pattern created by simple switches from single crochet to half treble crochet and working into back loops only. So effective.

When I felt it was tall enough it was time to break for the handles by replacing the stitches with a chain ready to stitch over on the following round.

I have wanted to make myself a work basket for ages and finally got around to it!

You can make your own work basket using this link to the pattern.

Happy hooking my friends.

If you fancy having a go at crochet I would recommend starting with a granny square. There is a step by step tutorial on this blog if you want to try. Happy to help if you get stuck at all. Thank you for your lovely comment.

Many thanks, I love this pattern, I wish I could make more baskets with this cotton yarn but it was tough on my wrist.

I really like this! I’m on a strict yarn diet, I’m not allowing myself to buy any more until I’ve used at least a third of what I already have. I might trying making it with two strands of DK together.

I was so pleased to see you pop up on my reader, I was wondering if you’d stopped blogging xx

It’s a really nice pattern, I have made a few variations of baskets over recent months. They are great for using up spare yarn, doubling up finer strands helps give it the bulk it needs. You could also try crocheting the yarn around something too, I have used cotton washing line. This is a good pattern link http://thelittlebee.co.nz/blog/2015/10/ropey-rainbows/. Thanks for your lovely comment, I have missed everyone in blogland too, life is very busy these days and I don’t seem to have much time left in the evenings, on holiday at the moment so taking advantage!
