Creatures of the Sea

I got a lovely surprise when I opened my post to discover all these sea creatures.

sea creaturesThey are a most welcome contribution from Belgium made by the lovely Annick who blogs as Cat Stitches. She has just finished the cutest little fox hat beautifully modeled by her gorgeous little girl Febe, it’s definitely worth popping over to take a peek.

This was a timely arrival as I had just been making the sea for the Seaside Scene we are creating for the yarn bombing so these babies have a place to rest already. And I have just made this octopus family too so these three have a ready made family.

I loved this pattern the minute I saw it and knew they just had to be part of our seaside scene.

Crochet Octopus FamilyAnd two crabs were great fun to make. The Crabby the Crab and Ollie the Octopus patterns were a great find on a newly discovered pattern source called Favecrafts.

Here is a sneak preview of how the sea scape was coming along before these new additions arrived.

The seascape creatures make me smile as I’m sure others will when they see the finished seascape.

I hope so, it is one of my favourite scenes that we have. Last week one of the volunteer brought in a 3ft lighthouse with a real light in the top! It’s amazing, I will post a photo soon to share.

All is going well I am pleased to report, we have had promotion on the local radio and a regional TV news programme is hoping to come too. We won’t know how much we raise for a couple of weeks yet but I will let you all know.

Great to meet you, hope you will come back again soon. I am not very regular at the moment due to the workload of the Charity Yarn Bombing but will be back to normal soon!

Your timing was perfect as I have just done the octopus when yours arrived. I have put all the little fishes in amongst some seaweed on the big sea blanket, more photos to come over the next few weeks.

Thanks, it is amazing how folks come up with the patterns for some of the things, I have never in my wildest dreams thought I would want to crochet a crab or an octopus!

I just LOVE the octopussies!! It’s looking amazing. I’d better crack on with my bits of bunting for you. Hope that 8-10 extra pennants will be enough. Will post tomorrow.

Me too. It is getting very exciting at the surgery, we all have to concentrate on work but everyone keeps sneaking upstairs for a preview of the recent arrivals.
