Today I finally got round to finishing my Mandala for Yarndale.
There was no deliberation on the colours for this circle of goodness; living in a seaside town and I knew I wanted to use blues and greens to send a bit of the coast along to Skipton.
I am really looking forward to going to Yarndale again, everyone was so friendly and I am guessing after the success of last year there will be even more exhibitors this year. There was lots to see on the way to the show and so many like minded folk to talk to, I met a tutor from the design college and had chance to look at some of her designs, knitted evening dresses no less, absolutely amazing. There was so much wool to choose from I could have bought loads but having exercised a bit of self control I bought 2 lots of lovely yarn, some felting wool and a pattern.
If you haven’t seen it already you can see Lucy’s call to action on Attic24 . I am intrigued to see the end result of all the gorgeous colourful Mandalas.
And the next mandala I make I will definitely be using the Starflower Pattern from Zooty Owl, I just love all the detail and use of colour.

Your Mandala is lovely! Blues and greens have the ability to ease tension. I think you succeeded in sending a little bit of coast. I have wanted to make a Mandala for my living room but I have a question. It seems that the Mandalas I see on line are gifts. Is this the tradition with this type of project? Or am I misinterpreting this? If you please, would you tell what you think or know about this? Thanks.

Well you did pose a question there didn’t you. I googled it and found The Mandala Project http://www.mandalaproject.org/What/Index.html they tell of the indian origins for the name Mandala and it’s links with religion. I don’t think they are necessarily given as gifts but I am sure would be treasured if received.

Wow, that is stunning! I hope you’ll be able to spot yours at the show! I tried looking for my bunting triangles last year but they didn’t really have any distinguishing features and let’s face it, there were rather a lot to look through to find your own!

This is lovely! Such wonderfully calming colours. I’m from near Skipton but, living in Portsmouth now, I haven’t yet had a chance to make it up to Yarndale, but my sister goes so I hope to post some of her pics on my blog like last year, but do post any you take as I’d love to see more of the crafty treasures!

My sister lives in Waterlooville, maybe one day you can get a car load of local crafters from your end of the world and share the cost of coming up!! Will definitely post pics of Yarndale.
