Did you answer the call?
I did but unfortunately I saw the request a little late so have only had time to make 3 hats.
It is such a wonderful idea, the Innocent Drinks company will donate 25p to Age UK for every little hat they receive. Isn’t that great? It is called The Big Knit, I would have loved to make more but sadly have run out of time.
There were even links to patterns. I made the Tortoise and the Owl.
I did try to make my own Frog but I think I will work on the pattern as there is room for improvement.
I was so inspired by this post on Love Lucie enticing we crafters to make hats for smoothie bottles in return for the 25p donation. Now I have the link to the patterns I will make them throughout the year in readiness for next time (I hope there is a next time). They do seem to have done it for a few years now according to some of the other posts I have read.
Check out some of the links below, so many cute little hats!

They put them on the bottles of the drinks they sell and donate 25p for each hat to Age UK a charity that supports the elderly. Great cause to donate to.

Thank you for letting me know about 2014, I will keep going so I will be ready for next year. The little hats are maybe not the best thing to practise crochet as they are a bit fiddly maybe you should try a simple granny square first as a learning project. I did a tutorial with step by step photos if your interested. Please come back and let me know if I can help at all.

Thank you so much for helping, it is best to start on a chunkier wool too? I will also be back tomorrow and check out your granny square

Haha I was thinking the same thing! ^.^ I love the detail on the shell. At the moment my project is to make and donate poppies so turtles will have to wait 😉

Another great cause, where do you do this and is there a particular pattern you use?

The pattern I’m using is from The Stitch Sharer, the link is on my blog. I was just going to give the poppies I make to a poppy stand so they could sell them with the rest of their poppies. Maybe people will donate more for a handmade crochet poppy?

I forgot to mention, if you don’t have a button just do either a magic ring/circle and (US sc) DC 6 then slip stitch to join and fasten off in black yarn/wool.
Or the other way which is ch2 and dc 6 in the 1st chain…. Ill be adding that info in my blog with some other bits soon….I’m actually waiting for Halloween to pass!

That’s a good idea, this is the only pattern I liked. Last year I had some trouble with others! Probably because of my inexperience.
