Here is my finished blanket, it is only a baby sized blanket which will explain how I have finished whilst this great CAL is still ongoing.
With the blanket about the right size I needed to think about the edging. I always feel that this is such an important part of a blanket as it frames it and pulls it all together to showcase the pattern. As there is a great deal of pattern going on in this blanket I wanted to keep it really simple.
I started with a simple double crochet followed by a round of 1 half treble chain 1.
Then I tried a stitch I haven’t used before as a final finishing round, reverse double crochet. I think I will be able to get this stitch neater next time I do it. If you haven’t tried it it is a single crochet but you work from left to right and creates a rolling twisted stitch that also has a bit of depth.
A huge thank you to Hannah over at not your average crochet for running the fantastic CAL and introducing me to some new stitch patterns. I am sure that many of us will be revisiting her pages again in the future to do this project again.

Hello! I love everything about your blog! I learn just by looking at your pages and those of others’ blogs. I’ve been wondering, have you ever worked with what I will call specialty yarn? I’ve seen one that has frilly yarn like part of the things have been pulled away and brushed. Sorry. I know my description isn’t very good.

Thank you. I’m not real sure about how to add links. Although if I did I would add them every where. I don’t know where or how to get them. It’s a little bit better now. The black background has been bothering me so I just now changed it. So I must learn my way around again.

You create a link in Posts, open a post, click on edit, in another window open up the blog that you want to link to, copy the url in the address box at the top of the page (highlight the text and press these 2 keys at the same time, ctrl and c. Now go back to your post and highlight the words you want to create the link on, just above your text is a tool bar, the link button should be the 10th one across looks a bit like a chain. Click on it and it will open up another window, paste the url you copied into the space marked http (press these 2 keys at the same time, ctrl and v), I recommend you click on the box that says open in another window. Hope this makes sense. Like your new look too, much brighter.

Thank you, I like to seek out new stitches too, I always find borders on blankets a bit of a challenge but I am pleased with how this has turned out.

Well where do I start, I am just finishing off a scarf and want to make a beanie style hat to go with it, I bought a new pattern book whilst we were away last week and have a project in mind from that and I still have a couple of WIP’s to finish. So as you can see there will be no slacking off at the Grange this week! Oh and I am hoping to go to Yarndale at the end of the month, are you going?

Yours came out beautifully, and I love the edge. That is hte one sorrow I had at finishing mine early – I suspect Hannah os going to come up with somethign beautiful for the edge, and I did not! But as you say, we can do it again. I am still on the search for the right yarn (at the right price) to do a second one. 🙂

I guess I could try but to be fair the type of vegetables grown would be dependent on the space, location and type of garden an individual has available.

This is true but even simple stuff like potatoes, courgettes and carrots that will grow in most places, it is the timing that I always struggle with. Please don’t feel under pressure I don’t mean to sound demanding I just wanted to let you know I would be a follower if you ever do do one. I enjoy following the progress in your garden.

The blanket looks really smart. Beautiful and interesting. I think we call the reverse double crochet stitch “crab stitch” in Australia. Whatever it is called it looks effective on that blanket. 🙂
