What I love most about this cardigan is the shape, it flares slightly and the frill trim that borders it doesn’t pull in like a normal rib would. I love to see little girls in dresses, but when they need an extra layer and you put on a cardigan and the rib pulls in all those lovely flounces on the dress. The flared shaping on this pattern allows it to sit so nicely over a little girls dress and allows the gathers to fall and float as they should.
It’s for my friends granddaughter who happens to be another Miss E, pattern no. 1721 by Sirdar worked in DK yarn so it works up quite quickly. It’s one I have had for ages and have made many times over the years for numerous little ladies.
The frill is worked around the whole of the cardigan also forming the collar and has a gorgeous trim formed by making 6 additional chains between every other stitch.
I am also pleased to show you my new ‘The Grange Range’ labels used for the first time on this pretty pink cardigan.
And a washing advice label too.
I had a bit of bother sewing them into place so will have to give a bit more thought to that on the next project.

I love the pattern and the soft pink you used to make it! Simply adorable 😀 I have to ask, where did you find those custom made labels? I’ve been looking all over but so far they are just too darn expensive…

Thank you for visiting and for your lovely comment. You are right, labels are expensive. I looked around for ages before taking the plunge, I must admit I am so happy that I did. It gives me such pleasure to finish an project off with a label, anyway here is the link to the site I used http://www.wovenlabelsuk.com/garment-labels/wl-05.html. It is a great website, you can tap in the wording you want and it shows you exactly what is looks like so you can play around with different text and fonts until you are happy with it. They did take a few weeks to come but the quality is really good. Let me know how you get on.

Super cool labels. I have woven labels too, a bit simpler though. But I always think: now there is this soft garnment and I put an itchy label in and in the end, I don’t put a label in because I think there are more people out there like me who cut out labels straight away and than what is the use of putting a label for just such a short time. Do you have any feedback on labels in your knits so far?

Not yet, this was the first time I have used them but you make an interesting point, I guess we can only hope that if someone buys an item even if they cut the label out it might just be hanging around for a while. The other thing we could try is putting the label in a different place, I might try that. It isn’t really a problem for me as I don’t really sell anything I just craft for pleasure or presents.

I don’t sell much either but I make lots of presents, many for kids, so I’m always worrying about the softness… (maybe a bit over worried though) and I think putting the label on the outside which with mine that only state “LaKatha” wouldn’t be a problem but it seems so vain… 😉

I ordered them online from here http://www.wovenlabelsuk.com they took a couple of weeks to get here but they are worth the wait. They were really easy to order and as you select colours and fonts for your label you can see how it looks so you can be sure to get the effect you want. Hope this helps, let me know how you get on.
